The above the typical sequence of events for wisdom procedure. Initially you may have some discomfort or pain with your wisdom teeth or other associated symptoms. Sometimes your general dentists may refer to the oral surgeon in the absence symptoms because he or she has diagnosed problems with your wisdom teeth. At the consultation appointment with the oral surgeon, he will discuss with you the history of your discomfort, medical history, radiographic findings and perform an examination. If the symptoms you are experiencing is from your wisdom teeth, surgical removal is typically the case due to impaction and non-functioning nature of the third molars. After the procedure you will be given days off to recover and given directions to encourage proper healing. Then after a week or two of the healing phase, which can be uncomfortable, your initial symptoms will be completely resolved.
